Sheriff Steve Toliver
Steve Toliver was elected sheriff of Creek County, Oklahoma, in 2000 and re-elected in 2004. Prior to becoming sheriff, he worked for nearly 21 years as an officer of the Sapulpa Police Department, attaining the rank of lieutenant. He has been an Oklahoma state certified police officer since 1980. He is a member of the Oklahoma Sheriffs' Association and a past president of Sapulpa Lodge #94 of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Toliver is vice chairman of the Creek County Community Sentencing Council and a board member of the Creek County Public Facilities Authority. He is also a member of Kiwanis. Toliver was named "Sapulpa Herald Citizen of the Year" in 2001. In 2003, he was named "Oklahoma Sheriff of the Year" by the Oklahoma Sheriffs' Association.
Toliver has been certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training in management, community policing, domestic violence, interpersonal communications, progressive discipline, instructor development, law enforcement drivers training instruction, and breathalyzer-intoxilyzer operation and supervision.
Toliver is a fourth-generation resident of Creek County, having graduated from Sapulpa High School and Drumright Central Vo-Tech. His wife, Debi, works in the Tulsa County Clerk's Office. He has three daughters, Monica, Valerie, and Tiffany; a granddaughter, Samantha; and a grandson, Toby.
