Convicted Felon With a Firearm Arrested

 

(Tulsa, OK) On Saturday, March 4, deputies responded to a 911 disturbance call in the Oakridge area. The caller said James Byron Powell, 36, was fighting with his girlfriend and destroying property. When deputies arrived in the area, Powell took off on foot. Deputies pursued Powell and caught him a few blocks away. Deputies found a gun in Powell's backpack. The gun had recently been stolen from a residence in Oakridge.

 

Powell was taken into custody and continued to be combative, including spitting on detention officers at the Creek County Justice Center.

 

Powell was arrested for Larceny, Malicious Injury to Property, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, and Person in Custody to Transfer Bodily Fluids upon a County Employee, and a Tulsa County warrant.

 

Powell was previously convicted of a felony in Tulsa County (CF-2018-5124).

 

This is an arrest, not a conviction.
