Creek County Clean-Up Day

The Creek County Sheriff's Office is partnering with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to host FREE dump day. The event will be held at the Creek County Fairgrounds on June 8, 2024 from 7am - 3pm, or until full.

Items NOT accepted: Grease, Paint, Flammables, Electronics, Dirt, Rocks, and Sand.

This is event is for Creek County residents. A valid ID and/or a recent utility bill must be presented for proof of residency.

Sheriff Bret Bowling encourages participation in this event, and for Creek County residents to report any illegal dumping or dump sites to the Sheriff's Office at 918-224-4694. Through community involvement, we can all help in CLEANING UP CREEK COUNTY.

The Creek County Sheriff's Office partnership with the DEQ has led to the identification of several illegal dumpsites throughout Creek County. A few of these sites are close to water sources such as creeks, lakes and ponds. Some of the items dumped at these sites include tires, furniture, plastic and household appliances. Our partnership also includes the posting of illegal dumping signage, cleanup efforts, enforcement of environmental crimes, and community educational programs.

Creek County has many magnificent and scenic areas of natural beauty, including several Army Corps of Engineer lakes and recreational areas. Unfortunately, it is becoming more common to find large piles of trash, old household items, construction waste, or various other used products dumped near these areas and along roadways and fields. The chemicals and non-biodegradable materials in the waste affect the physical environment and our waterways by contaminating groundwater and soil. The wastes can also spread weeds and pests, therefore affecting agriculture and wildlife. Many Creek County residents live in rural areas and depend on farming, raising livestock, and wildlife for a source of livelihood. Community involvement and reporting of illegal dumpsites or dumping, assists the Sheriff's Office and the DEQ in the identification, investigation, and clean-up efforts in Creek County.
